The Nuclear Energy Agency's High Priority Nuclear Data Request List (HPRL) is a compilation of the highest priority nuclear data requirements. The purpose of the list is to provide a guide for those planning measurement, nuclear theory and evaluation programmes.
The list is maintained by the NEA Working Party on International Nuclear Data Evaluation Cooperation (WPEC) Expert Group on the High Priority Request List for Nuclear Data.
Requests are divided in three main categories:
The first High Priority Nuclear Data Request List was produced in the early 1980s by the NEA Committee on Reactor Physics (NEACRP), and the NEA Nuclear Data Committee (NEANDC). The aim was to provide targets for the improvement of nuclear data, primarily for application in the nuclear industry. The users were asked to define their most important requirements, taking into account the limited resources available for measurement and evaluation of data. It was the responsibility of the NEACRP to define the requirements. The NEANDC then reviewed progress in meeting the requirements and commented on the status of the available data and the feasibility of meeting the requirements.
The High Priority Request List (HPRL) was reviewed each year by the NEA Nuclear Science Committee's Working Parties on International Evaluation Co-operation (WPEC) and Nuclear Data Measurement Activities (WPMA) during the period 1996-1998. Status reports were provided by the Chair of the WPMA, in consultation with members. The comments of the WPMA and WPEC were considered by the requesters. However, the requester then decided what was to be included in the list. Some general comments concerning the requests were made by the WPEC and the WPMA. Consideration was given to the status of the data and the possibility of meeting the requirements. For a number of items measurements have been completed.
The expert group is responsible for managing the activities related to the High Priority Request List (HPRL) for nuclear data, in particular for guaranteeing that the entries are up-to-date and well-motivated by current interests in the field of nuclear energy and other nuclear applications.
