At the Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Installations (CSNI) meeting of June 2002, a proposal for a benchmark on thermal fatigue in fluid mixing areas based on the test performed by the Commissariat a l’Énergie Atomique (CEA, France) was approved. Objectives were to extend the understanding of 3D thermo-mechanical loading as a major factor influencing crack propagation through the thickness of nuclear piping systems. The benchmark was sponsored by the Institut de Radioprotection et de Surete Nucleaire (IRSN, FR). This report presents the analysis results of the calculation of the experiment provided by the benchmark participants.
